About us

Two women smiling and laughing, sitting at a table with various blue and clear glass vases and jars, with a light-colored curtain or window in the background.

Our journey has led us to make what we love, continually evolving and refining our practice - now from our garden studio in Hornsey, North London.

It started with a pottery class, then membership of Cernamic, a community studio in Stoke Newington, London. We began creating independently, and Ceramasistas was born.

We use a variety of clay bodies, glaze techniques, wheel throwing and hand building. Karen draws inspiration from the texture of lichen, the undulations of sand and pebbles on the beach and the endless East Anglian skies. Gill finds poetry in the perfection of veins on a leaf and the ever-changing colours of the garden.

Collaboratively and individually, we create functional pieces reflecting our love of colour and texture.

What we do

Two ceramic coffee cups, a small plate with slices of bread, butter, and a butter knife on a white surface.

Ceramics

Our functional pieces are thrown and hand-formed in various stoneware clay bodies.

A cup or mug for your favourite brew. A bowl for your lunch, a plate for your dinner - our foodware is beautifully designed.

Candles

Our candles are poured in small batches, using eco soy wax and quality fragrance and essential oils.

Each candle vessel is uniquely glazed and food safe for repurposing after the wax and fragrance have burned.

We can refill your candle vessel upon request from our signature fragrance collection.

Decorative items and commissions

Our practice includes Raku-fired pieces, both glazed and naked techniques. These one-off items reflect the joy we find in the making process. Each firing inspires the next project. Commissions taken on request.
